Event summary

The North Queensland Monsoon Trough and Flooding commencing 24 December 2025 event has impacted many Queensland communities and primary producers across North and North West Queensland.

The Queensland Government has moved to ensure flood-affected communities get the help they need through the joint State-Commonwealth Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).

Recovery operation

The recovery operation for this event will include: 

  • preparation of a business case for extraordinary assistance under the DRFA
  • offers of support from QRA Recovery and Resilience Officers (RROs) to eligible councils
  • QRA as lead recovery agency liaising with Functional Recovery and Resilience Groups to ensure appropriate state recovery planning.
