Community Health and Wellbeing - 2025 Western Queensland Surface Trough

About

The $14.61 million Community Health and Wellbeing funding package aims to support individuals, families and community groups by providing personal assistance, community development, emotional wellbeing support and aiding local organisations, social services and councils in disaster preparedness following the Western Queensland Surface Trough and Associated Rainfall and Flooding, 21 March - 19 May 2025 event.

The outcomes of this package include:

  • recovery is locally led through engagement and collaboration with impacted councils, local community members, community organisations, service providers and individuals
  • impacted individuals are supported in accessing available support services including personal and financial and mental health support
  • community building activities are delivered and support community recovery, build social cohesion, and assist in addressing social isolation
  • local community groups and councils are supported in building preparedness and resilience to future disasters, including areas related to food security
  • impacted individuals are supported in accessing grants and services to assist in rebuilding and returning to their properties. 

Funding acknowledgement

The package is jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland Governments to support Queensland communities in their recovery from the Western Queensland Surface Trough and Associated Rainfall and Flooding, 21 March - 19 May 2025 event.

Eligibility

This package targets those Local Government Areas (LGAs) activated for Personal Hardship Assistance Scheme (PHAS) which experienced loss and severe damage of properties due to the Western Queensland Surface Trough and Associated Rainfall and Flooding, 21 March - 19 May 2025.
