Flood hardship payments for Clermont, McKinlay, and the Mackay highlands
Personal Hardship Assistance has been extended to help more residents impacted by flooding from the North Queensland Monsoon Trough and ex-Tropical Cyclone Koji.
Widespread damage from the severe weather events means residents in Clermont, McKinlay Shire, and highland parts of the Mackay Regional Council area can now access emergency grants to aid their recovery.
Grants of $180 per person, up to $900 for families of five or more will allow residents directly impacted by the floods to cover immediate needs such as food, clothing and medicine.
Eligible localities in the Mackay region are Broken River, Crediton, Dalrymple Heights, and Eungella, while hardship assistance also remains open to residents of the Flinders, Richmond and Winton Shires.
Additionally, three income-tested grants are available for uninsured residents in Clermont, McKinlay, Flinders, Richmond and Winton.
Essential Household Contents Grants up to $1,765 for individuals and up to $5,300 for couples or families can be used to replace destroyed essential household contents like bed linen and whitegoods.
Structural Assistance Grants up to $80,000 are available towards the repair or replacement of a disaster damaged dwelling to return it to a safe and habitable condition.
Up to $5,000 per household is also offered through the Essential Services Safety and Reconnection Scheme to help individuals and families reconnect damaged services like electricity, gas, water or sewerage.
Applications for Personal Hardship Assistance can be submitted via www.disaster.qld.gov.au or by calling the Queensland Community Recovery Hotline on 1800 173 349.
