Back in (small) business with more disaster recovery grants

Disaster assistance is now available for eligible small businesses in Carpentaria, Cook, Douglas, Isaac and Weipa to drive recovery from recent severe weather.

Small Business Recovery Assistance Grants are now open for small businesses not directly hit by severe weather or flooding, but which nevertheless experienced significant financial loss due to the disasters.

Small businesses in the five regions indirectly impacted by isolation, access disruptions, and supply chain constraints can apply for up to $15,000 to help pay for operating expenses including wages, rent and replacement of stock.

Grants support Queensland small and family businesses that either couldn’t trade or experienced at least a 70 per cent drop in revenue compared to the same time last year due to the secondary impacts of the floods.

Making this assistance available recognises the vital role small businesses play in rural and remote areas and their contribution to the overall health and wellbeing to their communities.

This assistance is jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland Governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) and administered by the Department of Customer Services, Open Data and Small and Family Business (CDSB).

It is in addition to other measures already provided through the DRFA including the Exceptional Disaster Assistance Recovery Grants up to $50,000 helping small businesses directly impacted by severe weather events from 24 December 2025 to 24 April 2026.
